The 2nd Annual Rick Bradshaw Memorial Golf Outing is in memory of our dear friend Rick Bradshaw who was a long-time supporter of the Mental Health Association of Illinois Valley.  Proceeds from this event help fund mental health programs in Central Illinois. Quail Meadows Golf Course, in Washington, IL, will be the site of this 4-person scramble. The $75 Individual Player Registration and the $300 Foursome Registration includes continental breakfast, lunch, golf cart, and more.  Call the MHAIV office at (309) 692-1766 for more information.

The Mental Health Association of Illinois Valley, Inc. celebrates 50 years of serving Central Illinois this year.  A gala will be held on Saturday, April 25th at Embassy Suites in East Peoria.  We will review the past 50 years with the help of a panel of local mental health advocates, educators, providers, and others. The event will include dinner, and reservations are $50 per person.  Please call the MHAIV office at (309) 692-1766 for more information.

ASIST is recognized worldwide as an effective means to train lay people on suicide prevention.  The Mental Health Association of Illinois Valley, Inc. received the training for trainers as part of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.  Cost for materials is $45 per person; there will be 12 CEUs available for licensed social workers and counselors.  Both trainings will be held at the Peoria City/County Health Department.  To register, please contact Diane Brown, Prevention Specialist II, at 309-692-1766, ext. 15 or dianefullerbrown@yahoo.com

The Suicide Protection Symposium "We're All in This Together" will be held on Wednesday, March 18th at the ICC North Campus in the Auditorium from 8 am to 5 pm. Cost per person is $30 (includes breakfast and lunch) plus $10 for six hours of CEUs for LCSWs, LSWs, LCPCs, and LPCs.  Community members from all backgrounds and vocations are encouraged to register.

The 2009 Awards of Excellence for Promoting Mental Health in Central Illinois will celebrate President Abraham Lincoln’s 200th birthday.  The awards banquet will be held at Kickapoo Creek Winery in Edwards from 6-9 p.m.  The Awards of Excellence offers the opportunity to honor the mental health field and have a taste of life on the prairie in one fun-filled evening.  Since 1972, the Mental Health Association of Illinois Valley, Inc. (MHAIV) has honored deserving individuals with an awards banquet.  The 2009 awards will also commemorate the organization’s 50th Anniversary.  This annual awards banquet recognizes mental health professionals, educators, supporters, advocates, and volunteers throughout Central Illinois for their service and dedication to the community. 

Reservations are $45 per person and and must be made by January 26th.

The 9th Annual Gertrude Kelley Hearts of Hope Art Auction & Celebration will be held at the Country Club of Peoria.  The event features artwork from numerous local artists.  The format for the event is Cocktails & Silent Auction from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. followed by Dinner & Live Auction. Art media includes oil on canvas, sculpture, ceramics, photography, watercolor, jewelry, and more.  Reservations are $100 per person and may be made by calling the Mental Health Association of Illinois Valley office at 309-692-1766.

Northern Shores Featured Artist Exhibit for Gertrude Kelley Hearts of Hope Art Auction to be held on Sunday, October 26th from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at 2 Chez restaurant located in Mt. Hawley Court at the corner of Knoxville Ave. and Prospect.  Exhibit features photography of the Pacific Northwest by local artist Kevin Morrissey.  Select pieces are available for purchase with all proceeds going to the Mental Health Association of Illinois Valley.  Exhibit is free and open to the public.  Appetizers will be served; cash bar available.

The Mental Health Association of Illinois Valley, Inc. presents the 4th Annual Protecting Our Youth Suicide Prevention Symposium. This year’s topic is: "We're All in This Together." The symposium will be held on Friday, April 25 from 8 a.m. 4 p.m. at the ICC North Campus in Dogwood Hall (Lot 5) at 5407 North University, Peoria, Illinois. The complete schedule of events and list of featured speakers is found in the symposium brochure. Everyone is welcome to attend. FREE registration, breakfast, and lunch is sponsored by the First Federated Church of Peoria. Six hours of CEUs for LCSWs and LCPCs will be $10 per person, with payment due at the time of the workshop registration (checks or cash accepted).

The Mental Health Association of Illinois Valley, Inc. received the 2007 Dr. Joseph S. Solovy Award. The Dr. Joseph S. Solovy Award honors those who promote community health in Central Illinois. A healthy community requires a high quality medical system along with programs to confront and manage concerns, such as livable neighborhoods, family support, job opportunities, improved educational opportunities, hunger, homelessness, adequate systems of transportation, public safety and crime. Separate awards are given annually to recognize demonstrated commitment to community health promotion and/or disease prevention by an individual and an organization.

MHAIV Events
