The Mental Health Association of Illinois Valley, Inc. presents the 4th Annual Protecting Our Youth Suicide Prevention Symposium. This year’s topic is: "We're All in This Together." The symposium will be held on Friday, April 25 from 8 a.m. 4 p.m. at the ICC North Campus in Dogwood Hall (Lot 5) at 5407 North University, Peoria, Illinois. The complete schedule of events and list of featured speakers is found in the symposium brochure. Everyone is welcome to attend. FREE registration, breakfast, and lunch is sponsored by the First Federated Church of Peoria. Six hours of CEUs for LCSWs and LCPCs will be $10 per person, with payment due at the time of the workshop registration (checks or cash accepted).

  • Timothy Drew, Ph.D. for the Jean Tucker Award for Children’s Mental Health Provider of the Year

  • Theodore Chapin, Ph.D. and DBSA (Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance)/Peoria Mood Challenge for the Dr. Walter Baer Award for Promoting Mental Health in Central Illinois

  • Amy Fort, MA, QMHP, for the Zona L. Robbins Award for Mental Health Professional of the Year

  • Lisa Ellis for the Maude Saylor Award for Volunteer of the Year

  • Jeannie Jones, MA for the Dr. Peg Burke Award for Mental Health Educator of the Year

  • Emergency Response Services (ERS) for the Barb Runyan Award for Social Service Provider of the Year

  • University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria for the Good Friend Award

The Mental Health Association of Illinois Valley would like to recognize all the nominees and congratulate the winners for their dedicated and outstanding service in the mental health field throughout Central Illinois!

The Mental Health Association of Illinois Valley, Inc. received the 2007 Dr. Joseph S. Solovy Award. The Dr. Joseph S. Solovy Award honors those who promote community health in Central Illinois. A healthy community requires a high quality medical system along with programs to confront and manage concerns, such as livable neighborhoods, family support, job opportunities, improved educational opportunities, hunger, homelessness, adequate systems of transportation, public safety and crime. Separate awards are given annually to recognize demonstrated commitment to community health promotion and/or disease prevention by an individual and an organization.

MHAIV Events

The Mental Health Association of Illinois Valley, Inc. holds a variety of community events that are both fundraisers and friend-raisers for the organization. All events are open to the public. Events include:
